Meet Our Team!
PHOEBE
Founder.
Teacher Phoebe has worked in media, arts and film industry in Taiwan and abroad. She is an experienced scriptwriter and has written several hundreds of hours of film and television scripts. She
was a TV journalist, filmmaker and a Chinese teacher at ICLP, National Taiwan University and a guest lecturer of screenplay workshops in Hanoi University. She was also resident artist for the 1st Art Festival in NTU and led a storytelling workshop to teach students writing a script, and created a play "When Kimchi Meets Stinky Tofu" on stage in 2010.

After living abroad for about 8 years, Phoebe came back to Taiwan and founded Lumière International Academy in 2021 as an experimental education group in Taipei. She wants to bring light to the world and believes this is her calling to establish LIA to be a happy, creatvie and healthy environment for the young minds to learn and thrive for the future.
GLEN
Principal.
Leading the way at Lumière International Academy is our esteemed Principal, Glen Pamment. With a wealth of experience in the field of international education, Glen has dedicated over a decade to fostering environments that nurture the growth and development of young minds.
Having completed his early years teaching license and a master's degree in education, with a focus on early years, in Australia, Glen has lived in Taiwan for 23 years. His career in international education spans 13 years, during which he has assumed various roles, including classroom teacher, curriculum coordinator, school principal, and head of school in both Taiwan and China. His extensive experience is complemented by his active involvement in the IB Educators Network, where he facilitates workshops and engages in school evaluation for the IB.
Glen's passion for inquiry-based learning is at the core of his educational philosophy. He firmly believes in empowering students to reach their full potential by creating learning environments that are both challenging and supportive. Beyond his professional endeavors, Glen is a family man who enjoys swimming, biking, playing games, and reading stories with his loved ones. His holistic approach to education and life reflects the values and ethos of Lumiere International Academy.
Hey there!
I’d like to tell you about my educational worldview. What really gets me up in the morning (besides the enticing aroma of freshly brewed coffee) is my unshakeable belief in a student-centered approach to education.
I believe in the words of Piaget, “Every time we teach a child something, we keep him from inventing it himself.” I reckon the traditional "chalk and talk" method is about as engaging as watching paint dry. Instead, I'm all about flipping the script and putting the students in the driver's seat of their learning journey. It's a bit like teaching them to ride a bike - I'm there to guide and support, but ultimately, they're the ones pedaling away towards their own discoveries.
Picture this: a classroom where the walls are practically buzzing with questions, ideas, and the occasional lightbulb moment. A place where mistakes are not just tolerated but celebrated as stepping stones to understanding. That's the kind of learning environment I'm passionate about fostering at LIA. Because let's face it, curiosity didn't kill the cat; it made the cat a lifelong learner.
Now, I know what you're thinking. "Glen, how do you manage to keep your sanity amidst all this student-driven chaos?" Well, my secret weapon is a hearty dose of humor (and maybe the occasional dad joke). I firmly believe that laughter not only makes learning more enjoyable but also more memorable. So, don't be surprised if you catch me cracking a joke in the middle of a workshop or during school evaluations. It's all part of the plan to keep things light-hearted and engaging.
In all seriousness, though, my ultimate goal is to empower our students to achieve their full potential, both academically and personally. By championing a student-centered approach, I hope to inspire them to become inquisitive, knowledgeable, and caring individuals ready to make their mark on the world.
So, here's to the endless possibilities that lie ahead for our students at LIA. And remember, "Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire." Let's keep those fires burning bright together!
